  • Can I order a bespoke piece of cutlery for Brown Spotty Dog to find?

At Brown Spotty Dog, I love to search for specific items which are meaningful to you. So, if my website does not show a specific item of vintage cutlery, silverware, or flatware which you are after, then contact me via the 'contact us' page, and I will begin looking out for that item for you. I may already have it in stock, but simple not listed yet.

 

  • Who do Brown Spotty Dog use to deliver orders?

At Brown Spotty Dog, I always use Royal Mail as the chosen delivery service.

 

  • How long is it before an item has been dispatched, after I place an order?

For items in stock, orders received and paid for before 14:00 are normally dispatched within 2-3 working days for delivery in the U.K. and will be posted 'Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class'. Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to this timetable, we cannot be responsible for any failure to meet these delivery times unless you have paid for an upgrade for 'Express delivery' at checkout.

For non-stock, personalised and made to order items, these orders received and paid for before 14:00 are normally dispatched within 3-4 working days for delivery in the U.K. and will be posted 'Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class'. Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to this timetable, we cannot be responsible for any failure to meet these delivery times unless you have paid for an upgrade for 'Express delivery' at checkout.

 

  • Is the delivery packaging able to be recycled?

At Brown Spotty Dog, I believe in making as much of my packaging recyclable. The packaging has therefore been carefully chosen to ensure safe delivery whilst I ensure that we also use materials which can be recycled or reused.

 

  • How do you take care of the vintage silver plate cutlery?

Brown Spotty Dog advise that all pieces of stamped vintage cutlery, silverware and flatware are gently wash by hand, not in a dishwasher.

They love a gentle polish every now and then. I use Hagerty Silver Foam. Their foaming paste protects against oxidation for several weeks and removes dirt from silverware.

The black writing will fade over time, you can always replace with food colouring if desired.

  • Can I choose the style of handle I prefer?

Items listed on the website are individual pieces which have already been stamped. Therefore, you are purchasing the specific item listed.

I do have a wide assortment of styles, so if you have a personal preference (plain or ornate for example), please order the item from the ‘personalised’ section and let me know your preference in an email with your order number.

  • What are ‘Tines’ (3 tines or 4 tines for example)?

The Tines are the number of prongs on the fork. The cake forks are perfect for use as either starters or cakes, but I have designated them by the number of prongs, to help you when you are ordering.

 

  • What is Peddle?

  • I have Joined the mailing list, but I wish to unsubscribe.

  • Can I buy a knife if I am under 18?

By law, I am not permitted to sell a knife or blade to any person under the age of 18. Criminal Justice Act 1988 (as amended). Offensive Weapons Act 2019. Due to this, my knives are only sold in person. 

 

  • What if my order gets lost in the post?

At Brown Spotty Dog, all of my orders are sent by 'Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class'. I will therefore be able to replace any orders which are missing as identified by Royal Mail. I will ensure these are re-made as priority and are dispatched within the normal dispatch timeframes.
